Website update

Post by slowtiger »

No new animation this time (I think), but I'm happy to announce that I finally updated my website.

http://www.enigmation.de

Have a look, and recommend it.

While cleaning up the server I noticed a lot of old stuff still using up diskspace. I need to remove quite a lot of them - including examples I posted here.

Clicking on the first two images (both woodcuts) leads to Error404 - not linked. (WinXP/Firefox here.)

I like your diary (wip)-style! and the 1st woodcut-anim I liked too. (A little bit Monthy P. and Gorey, mhm ?)

Yes, those two links are faulty. Still it's a much better website now than the year before - "now with content". I'll fix it when I'm home from Stuttgart.

But others beat me with their presentations. The newest gimmick seems to be to have complete films on an iPod or iPhone, so you can see filmmakers and prospective producers cling together in dark corners like lovers ...

I've seen only one film so far which announced to have been made with TVP. We should have more marketing, methinks.

Against the hype (which has first signs of slumping) I am not such a fan of blogging. I always get tired after reading a few lines thinking why not keep one's food down and come back with sg important which in our case could be seen visually. Such a waste of energy on both sides. E-mail, phone, and sometimes this Forum are better for chatter and gossip !

For iPod and iPhone I am not sure if it could stand quality-films (sound, size) or if it is more for rash cartoony trash or for teasers.

I just wrote a short summary about Stuttgart on http://www.enigmation.de.

Two films I saw which used TVP: "The Heart of Amos Klein" and "Urs", both used TVP amongst other software. I was very pleased to see at least two films which used Anime Studio, my other favourite software ...

I know "the Heart of Amos Klein" (a teaser will be added in the gallery in the future), but never saw Urs.

Do you have more informations about it ?

Urs by Moritz Mayerhofer. Used BGs and textures painted in TVP within a Lightwave environment. Has a website here: http://www.urs-film.com/

Quite good news:
I've got a lot of invitations to festivals for Paraplü from people who saw it in Hamburg. Unfortunately I couldn't make it there - I missed my own premiere. But the best thing is that it was picked up by a distributor already! (I tell the name when the contracts are signed.) This means that I have to record the film on 35mm, a first for me, and an expensive one too, although I try to get funding for this.

You can read this again at http://www.enigmation.de, and see one image from that film. This was the first film I did in TVP in HD, creating that legendary big file of 8 GB. I'm now busy creating different versions: one HDTV for DigiBeta, and one in 2K for 35mm. The recording on film will cost me about 600,- €, I still have to get this money somewhere. Funding is impossible right now: the Mediaboard which is in charge of this doesn't like independant filmmakers, and it doesn't like short films. They rather spend millions on more superfluous TV movies. (Yes, I'm a bit pissed about his.)

Anyway, there will be a 35mm copy in autumn, and I'm so seeing forward to watch it on the big screen, finally! Please understand that you can't see the film online - I just sold the rights for that!

Congratulations, st. I don't post on the board too much, but I've been tuning in regularly and I've always enjoyed your animation style. Good luck with the transfers and the distribution deal.
