have you updated recently your nvidia driver ?

anyway, I think you should go to Windows Configuration Panel,
then Folder Options, then Files types ... here you can browse and select .tvp file type
and "Modify" to select the appropriate Application.

Indeed i recently updated the nvidia driver.

*.tvp files will open fine in TVP only that stupid nvidia icon is still there

finally i got it to work. (well almost...but close enough i call it quits)
But i would not be able to tell you how.
it felt like going the same circles endlessly with sometimes slight changes that occurred....but i could not exactly put my finger on what i did...and finally i got tvp icons, still not exactly the ones i looked for but close enough.

sigh.....Windows is too complex for me

While we're at it...
Does anyone know how to have thumbnails of the tvp projects in windows explorer?

I never had this because i used Dopus and thumbnails never worked there.

I thought it would work automatically under windows?

TVP Thumbnail use the association between icons and application. As you said the association for .tvp files has been modify by nvidia drivers update. So maybe a reinstallation would fix the problem.
