when I first keep all cut brush options unchecked,
then select a part of an image,
then hit CIP,
then select my target image,
then hit PIP,
nothing appears.

do you have a clue what I am missing?
preliminarily, what tvpa version do you work on, and what OS are you running ?

hmmm... it's not so easy to guess what could be wrong
without more details and/or some screengrabs ...
let try to find the hic :
- after hitting CiP button, verify the brush is really cut, try to draw in your project preview,
just to make sure the custombrush really exists, and is not empty,
- if that's OK, check the 2 .grg files location, make sure they both are placed/copied
in your C:\Program Files\TVPaint Developpement\TVPaint Animation Pro\George\ folder,
to ascertain the script is well reached, right-click on the PiP button, Edit ...
then click on line0 and go to Set Script ... browse in your george folder
and select the PasteOverHeadsOnly.grg file, then "OK", "OK",
- also check if you haven't a Stencil enable, or the Preserve Transparency button enlighted,
- verify if your layer does have frame(s) at your choosen target place,
- ...

btw - how do you create custom icons ?
when you Add an action, or Edit an already existing custom button,
you have in the Edit panel a button named Tool, (in the middle), this [Tool] button
in fact transforms your current custombrush into Icon,
so, here's the way to follow :
- first, draw your button design in a layer,
- cut (Rectangle CutBrush tool) the drawing or part of it,
- then, Edit your custom button, and hit the Tool button, "OK.

WOW

creating my own icons and my own custom panel makes me feel like jumping into level two!

:D

regarding the PIP:

I tried out your suggestions and found out that the CIP button cuts out the current selection but shows the last made cut brush. It doesn't seem to turn the selection into a new cut brush.

The PIP button work fine while pasting the last cut brush.

Is it a bug or can I modify the button script?

btw I am working on windows vista and TVPAP 8.5.8 US

it looks like the CiP embedded script is not found ...
so do for CiP the same as mentionned above for PiP :
right-click on the CiP button, Edit ...
then click on line1 and go to Set Script ... browse in your george folder
and select the CFr2Brsh.grg file, then "OK", "OK",
hope it will make it work. :)

note:
when it goes to install CP including/calling some george script(s), we always have to check
the path of the george file(s), because users could have many different installations,
regarding the user programs folder's partition, the tvpa version (classic, Pro), ...

now it works fine.

I'll keep it in mind to always check the george path.
