Unusable letter on layer name As Selective option

Hello.
I think quite recently, some letters are restricted from using on layer name, "<>:;"/|\?*"
I used ";" as a splitter, when make interaction with other programs,
after the recent update, I can not change to the name that is cantaining them, no more.
I can understand other letter as unusable letter because they are restricted from OS,
but ; is useful alternative one. so, actually I want to use it continuously.
and some of them is really so useful store the direct on the layer name.
I understand they can occure the ploblems, but for flexibility,
Is it possible to make restricted letter as a selective option?
or just show them 'alert' that those letter can cause some ploblems.

OK, I find I can add them with george,
but still, I think It's restricting the tool's flexibility.
