Yes, my understanding is that this function will be restored in the next release , which should be very soon now.

How do you know it would be a new version very soon? :shock: :shock: :shock:

I am a beta tester and the functionality to draw directly on a layer with the stencil enabled (like in TVPaint 10) is working in the current beta version, however only TVPaint Development team can tell you for sure when the next version will be released , but I believe it will be soon.
