a tip would be to create a black and white (greyscaled) custombrush (animated or not) as your basis and set the stamp mode of the tool to Luma.

that way it will channel the A and B colors selected in the colorpanel through the white and black pixels (respectively) of the brush.

Here is a post that discusses the basic procedure for recreating a brush, in this case from Corel Painter.
I don't know if this would also work for recreating a ProCreate brush, but it might get you started.

This was from Hisko Hulsing, regarding a brush he and Peter Wassink recreated in TVPaint.

"I made a screenshot of the Painter brush, and imported the image in TVPaint and added paper and pressure for the opacity.
I'm working with the brush right now and it feels even better than the one in Painter."

1. Select a brush in Painter or Photoshop.
2. Make a new document and zoom in until the form of the brush is big and clearly visible
3. Place your mouse or pen above the white canvas (or whatever)
4.make a screenshot (when you are still in Painter or Photoshop)

5. Open a document in TVPaint and than: Edit - Clipboard - Get brush from clipboard
(NOTE: in TVPaint 11/11.5 this will be Edit > Clipboard > Paste Image )

6. place the brush by clicking on the canvas in TVPaint (if you use TVPaint 11.5 Edit > Clipboard > Paste Image
the brush image is already placed on the canvas at this point)

7. Turn the white pixels into transparent by: FX Stack > Color > Scan Cleaner B&W
8. fill the Brushform with black using the Paintbucket fill tool.
9. Use the Cut Brush tool to pick the shape up as a Custom Brush.

10. Play around with the settings of the Custom Brush (this can include
adding paper).

11. We looked at the behaviour of the brush in Painter and decided to put the angle on D (direction) and a jitter of 17% (to give it a more fuzzy random look) and pressure for 56% opacity.
We didn't use the profile editors, but if you want you can also edit those with graphs.
12. Copy and Paste the Custom Brush to a new Custom Panel. "

to use Hisko's 'chalk brush' shape as example...
by painting it B/W and setting the stamp mode to Luma, you can channel the A and B colors to your liking.

so i colored the shape like this: and this is the cutbrush that forms the basis for the brush

There are hardly limits to choosing shapes and b/w variations other then your inspiration... so just experiment!
and not just the shape but also all the brushpanel settings en connection settings.

i didn't even adress the possiblities that open up if you make it an animbrush,
Then you can think about animating the shape of the brush itself or just the b/w pattern ...or both.
this animation then in turn can be connected to a range of input variables like pressure speed direction etc...

Yeah ... I couldn't really find anything else that explained the process as well as that post from Hisko.

(thanks for the additional info in your next two posts, above)

Thank you for the advise, I really like what the luma setting allows to do!
I just have a tiny problem, that switching from alpha stamp to luma, makes my brush very transparent. I don't really understand why tho... Any pointers? The brush I'm speaking about is this one. I'd really appreciate it, thank you!
