Wondering about animation styles

I got mine (style) before there was an internet. I just went down to the local animation supply house and picked one out. Now you can go to: http://www.animationstyles.com/ and pick one there. Hurry, or they might run out...

Seriously, though, how did you get your style as an illustrator? The same process will probably happen for your animation style-which will be influenced by your patience, and constraints of the medium. The look of most animation is based on the director's desire. It looks the way it does because someone decided that's how they wanted it to look. The animators themselves draw what the director wants (like doing Clampett this week, and Jones the next).

Interesting batch of responses. That word style is pretty loaded, isn't it?

To think that a site like this actually exists... I'm beside myself. I think I might just bring out my credit card and buy myself a set of styles along with a suit of clothes... fit for an emperor. It's perfect for every client who's come to me proposing some half-baked idea riddled with words like: "edgy, funky, loose, wild, beautiful, cartoony, cute, quirky"... Is "edgy" is a style? What a great find! What a gem! ¬_¬
