Well, the official word is that Canon hasn't released an SDK for MacOSX

BUT , reading this : Canon website FAQ about SDK it says :

There are 6 current Canon Digital Camera SDK versions:

EDSDK 2.0.1 Windows version for select EOS Digital SLRs
EDSDK 2.0.1 Macintosh version for select EOS Digital SLRs
RC-SDK 8.4 Windows version for other EOS Digital SLRs
RC-SDK 8.4 Macintosh version for other EOS Digital SLRs
PS-ReC SDK 1.1.0c Windows version for PowerShot G7, S5 IS, S3 IS, S80, A640 and A620
CD-SDK 7.3/RD-SDK 1.1.1 Windows version for select PowerShots
Canon lists several of their EOS Digital SLR cameras that are Macintosh compatible on that same FAQ page

So the last I heard was that TVPaint was still investigating the status of Canon SDK for Mac. Maybe they'll post something soon about that ?

Hi ingie01,
TVP Animation can recognize and use all digital camera with an LCD display thanks to the system. But the system only give to it a low resolution image.
In order to allow you to grab in High resolution with Some Canon digital camera we have developed a special plugins with the SDK delivered by Canon. Unfortunately this SDK only provides function for Windows So we can not develop a plugin for MacOSX. Now we are trying to obtain a new SDK for Windows and MacOSX in order to increase the list of recognized cameras.

So, for now, you can not use your camera on an iMac for stop motion in high definition. But I think you can do it in low resolution.

EOS are another SDKs from Canon, one for Mac, one for windows, and not compatible at the source code level with the SDks for 'point-and-shot' cameras...
And again begging to get that SDK !

Support for EOSes may come, but no promise because of those many hurdles :(
Quicktime is DEAD. Get over it and move on !
