Apple M1 chip performance for TV Paint

Post by GerhardHuman »

Hi all.
Does anyone have one of the new Apple Macbook pros or iMacs with the new M1 chip running TV Paint?
How do they run?
I have a Cintiq Pro 24 as well. Anyone have any experience with this setup?

I'm currently on an iMac late 2013 model and it's getting a bit slow with drawing... so want to upgrade but I've heard mixed reports about the performance... also no actual tests with TV Paint...

Thanks
Gerhard

Hi,
I'm using a Mac mini M1 (Os Big Sur 11.2.3). No problems with tvpaint or my Cintiq. (However I did need to downgrade my Wacom Driver because of some issues)
It's not a MacBook Pro, but I presume these will work too. Good luck :)

Hi Joost, thanks so much. Yes that's great. They should be running similar hardware so that helps. Thank you!
If I may ask, have you had any issues where the machine struggles to draw lines if you do quick hatching or try to write text with the pen?
My current iMac is struggling quite a bit so hoping the new M1 would handle it a bit better...

I doubt that any delays in fast drawing stem from the Mac, sinde I never had any problem with that even when I used a PowerMac. The cuprit most likely is the tablet driver, unfortunately I don't know any solution for that

Everything runs smoothly! No choppy lines. Even when I draw really fast.
