export selected frames broken

Post by Joost »

Hi!

In TVP 11.5.2 the "Export selected frames" options seems to be broken again.
If I remember correctly it was there in TVP 10, but was lost in TVP11, then it was added back in TVP11.5, but now it's missing again. (Or maybe I'm doing something wrong?...)

I would like to select a couple of frames, hit the export button and then have the in- and outpoint automatically selected on these frames.

Will this be fixed again?

and for now is it possible to me to go back to TVP 11.5.1? Or is this not recommended?

Thanks!

Also TVPaint's behaviour of exporting image sequences has changed (11.5.1). I don't know if this is on purpose or a bug.

It's adding extra numbers behind the numbers I already gave it.

For example in the previous TVP version when exporting a JPG sequence I used to name the first frame "shot01_001" and then the next frame was automatically named "shot01_002"
In TVP 11.5.2 the files names are changed to "shot01_001_001, shot02_001_002 and so on...

Please help :)

(Maybe I should have posted this in the technical support section... sorry about that)

I think this is intentional, to save you the time of appending the number sequence , so the normal procedure would be to name the first frame of the image sequence with the prefix only: Shot01_ and then when the image sequence is exported TVPaint automatically appends the numbering sequence: 001 , 002, 003, 004 005, etc. so you end up with an image sequence that has the prefix Shot01_ with a numbered sequence:

Shot01_001.jpg
Shot01_002.jpg
Shot01_003.jpg
Shot01_004.jpg
Shot01_005.jpg
etc.

In 11.5.2 if I select a range of frames (in this case 34 to 54) and Export from the Clip:display tab it will only export the selected frames , 34 - 54 .

However, it looks different if exporting from Project:display tab . In Project:display it will export a range of frames that have Mark-IN and Mark-OUT markers applied (in this case , Mark-In at 34 , and Mark-Out at 54). But in the Project:display export window it shows the Mark-In frame (34) as "1" and the Mark-Out frame (54) as "21" because the total range of frames to export is 21 frames.

Ah! I get it. Yes you're right, this was refined a bit in the 11.5.2 release.

In the 11.5.2 you can export the selected instances only in from the "clip: display" tab :
  • select your instances you want to export
  • menu > export
  • select the clip: display tab
  • untick the "all frames" checkbox
Then, the markin and markout should be set to your selected frames.

Well, just like David explained ! sorry my brain is already in holidays :?

Well, I tried this, but it doesn't work...
When I select frames and want to export only the selected frames, TVP only let me export the whole sequence. I have to set the in and outpoint manually.

Maybe only on the Mac version?

In your screen shot it shows you are trying to export from the Project:Display tab. To do what you are attempting to do you need to export from the Clip:Display tab.

See my post above with the two screenshots showing export of selected frames from the Clip:Display tab and from the Project:Display tab. They function differently. Use the Clip:Display tab to export your selected frames. (If you export from Project:Display then you must set a Mark-In point and Mark-Out point so only the frames in the Mark-In/Mark-Out range are exported.)

I double-checked it in TVPaint 10.5.7 . It's the same behavior in TVPaint 10.5.7 . To export only selected frames you must export from the Clip:Display tab. In TVPaint 10 using the Project:Display tab you must manually set the Mark-In and Mark-Out flags on the timeline to have only that range of frames exported.

No way! I feel soo stupid!
That's how I always used to render. I totally missed that check mark over there. I only noticed this mark at the Project:display tab.
Sorry for all the inconvenience and thanks for all the help and effort!
