Does recomputing sometimes not work? Yeah this has been addressed before, sometimes when working on large PNG files or 3D rendered sequences as PNG TVPAINT doesn't detect the instances properly. However you can always use the Recompute with threeshold and play around with the values to get it worki...

Yeah, there's this script originally by Svengali, I tweaked it a bit to work with newer TVP versions it does what you would expect from a replace with A color.

You can go the "Hisko way", render out a sequence of your object rotating around, the import it on a tvpaint timeline.
Just scroll on your timeline and you'll have the different views that you can trace over on the project timeline.

We also had issues when importing the .json to AE on versions above CC so we keep an AE CS5 just for importing with the old script. Sadly the AE import script hasn't been updated in quite some time so it doesn't work properly with the faux fixe/repeat images, so we have to do that by hand. That said...

We had a similar problem, we basically work everything in 3D and finish it on tvpaint so instead of rendering all the frames on a 120 frames sequence, we solved it by rendering only the poses of each "Animation Cel in 3D" pretty much like Japanese Animation so instead of rendering 120 fram...
