If it's not too much trouble and won't mess up the function of the JSON AE Import Script, please add a progress bar to the JSON Import Script panel . As it is now when the script is run there is no visual marker (progress bar) showing the status of the import, so you just have to wait for an interval of time until it seems that no more layers are being imported. With a small scene that only has a few layers it's fairly easy to see that the import has been completed, but in the case of a very large scene with many layers it isn't immediately apparent. Having a progress bar would be useful to see at a glance how much has been imported and how much remains to be imported.
