Long save times and often can't save at all

Hi all,
I'm working on a project that is about 600 MB in size. It is not very long but the resolution is 4800x2700 (big, I know.). Just one clip, no heavy imported material.

It takes about 30 seconds to save the project. I have 16 GB RAM and a very fast 1TB SSD so this seems slow to me.

To make matters worse, I very often get a message from TVPaint saying "Can't save...". Sometimes I need to press save 4 or 5 times before the it is successful. Each time the save is unsuccessful TVPaint manages to store a ".tmp" file next to my project.

I don't see this kind of problem anywhere else on my system.

Any insights appreciated :)

Thanks,
David

30 sec is not that long ... but on a SSD? I'd say run some system diagnostics on your drive.

Thanks. I will dive into that, ironically, when I have some more time ;)

The save time went down to about 7 seconds for a time... There are many variables I could test, such as After Effects running at the same time, or various combinations of re-opening and restarting things.
I'll report back if I find anything conclusive.

You only get useful results while testing if you really shut down everything else! No AfterFX, no web browser, no iTunes.

10 yrs ago I had a 11 GB TVP file on a PowerMac with only 8 GB RAM. It worked, it took 10 minutes to open or save, but TVP never lost anything.

Wow! I would lose my mind. How often did you actually press save? It's true that TVP is very stable so you don't have to that often.
