8.5.9 crashes tablet pc on startup

Post by JohnArtbox »

Hi I just installed 8.5.9 on my tablet pc and now TVPaint crashes on startup.
The process:
I checked for updates in tvpaint and it opened Firefox and downloaded the new version.
I then closed TVPaint and started the install. After it ran I restarted TVPaint but it still showed as 8.5.7 in the about window.
I uninstalled 8.5.7 and then reinstalled 8.5.9.
Now when I start TVPaint in crashes on startup.
I'm going to try and find a backup of 8.5.7 but does anyone have any suggestions, I'd really like to get the new tablet pc improvements.

... don't know if it can help, but have you try to start with creating a new config?

I don't get to the startup screen which allows you to create a new config( it crashes before then. Is it worth deleting the config file in windows explorer to see if that effects startup?

The install showed as being successful, and I ran the repair option with no success.
Thankfully I found the 8.5.7 install and I've got that running again, so at least I'm back where I started.

Hi John,

This kind of behavior did not occur here.
Please can you tell us :
- what kind of TabletPC it is
- your OS (Vista ? 64 bits ?)
- your version of Tablet/Stylus wacom drivers ?

Our technician will answer you soon about the canon plug-in.

The tablet is an LG LT20, Pentium M 1.7 with 2gb RAM, Intel 82852 graphics, XP Tablet SP2, Wacom Pen Tablet 5.03-3.
Would the Microsoft crash report or a screen recording help ?
