WIP test walk in rain

Post by slowtiger »

This is a test animation as well as a test of youtube's quality. Originally the scene is darker, h.264 de-saturates and brightens everything. I'd like to maintain this "roughness" of lines, a good compromise betwee clean and sketchy.

Looks great! Great motion, and it has a nice hand drawn natural media quality to it. Perfect for TVPaint!

I like your hand-drawn rain, simple but efficient,
how many layers for it, 2, 3, more ...?

The rain is just one static layer behind the character, about 75 frames, and one layer with just a few lines (15 frames) in front of the character and the trees which moves with them. Plus the rebounds on the umbrella.

It has a nice brisk pace and considering that most elements are cycles not all that bad for the length of the clip. But the hand holding the umbrella irks me. It's the right hand of someone walking backwards in front of him, who is invisible to us with the exception of this hand. It can't be the walking man's right or left hand.
