Annoying circle while drawing

Hi everyone!
I am not positive when my Cintiq started doing this again, I just created a new default brush this weekend and am afraid this is when it started, but after almost every stroke, a circle (or, in other modes, an hourglass) appears. It is driving me bonkers, and I've spent several hours disabling a variety of Windows Tablet settings as per other forums, and now it's only TVPaint where this issue persists. I am starting to wonder if it's not about the icon itself, but how to get TVPaint to not work so hard to process every line I draw.
Anyone else working on a PC running Windows 7 with a Cintiq who has experienced this? And what did you do to stop from throwing your tablet out the window?
Any input would be great,
:)

I have attached a slow-mo shot of what is happening. The lag is interesting, as it is imperceptible to me in real-time. It is that awful blue circle popping up after every stroke that is mocking me...

One thing to try: Open the LINE SMOOTHING PANEL and see if the Real Time box is unchecked. If so, then check it. Or, you can uncheck the Activate line smoothing box, altogether...

What might be happening is that each line is being "smoothed" AFTER it is drawn (not in Real Time... thus the momentary wait symbol)

Thanks, Sven, but Line Smoothing wasn't even on. I tried clicking Real Time, just to be safe, but the circle keeps making an appearance...:)

Regarding the circle, you should be able to disable it in your preferences : Edit > Preferences > Interface > and check what cursor you are using.

What disturb me is the big lag you have when you draw

Hi Elodie,
The cursor change does not stop the problem, BUT, the circle cursor sort of covers up the awful blue circle, so the effect is that it is "gone"! :) Regarding the lag, the video I attached was in super slo-mo so people could see when the blue circle popped up, but the lag is barely perceptible in real time...
Thanks for the ideas...this circle cursor will help until I find out what's really wrong...

Hi MJ,

Isn't this the obnoxious little circle that Windows uses for some never explained charismatic reasons? If this should be the case, there's a place in Win preferences to turn it off but I forgot where. If you find it, please pass the info onto us here... I could use it myself. I get this on the rare occasions when I use a Wacom stylus to operate Vegas.

Mari, please can you let me know the result if you switch "on" or "off" the "Wintab" option in the Preferences panel ?
We will then know more about the problem.

This is something I grabbed a while back on the forum from a translation - I've never tried it. - Sven

Hello Roselle,

the ring you described has also been extremely annoyed me. But it is a Windows setting. Windows 7 comes as standard on the assumption that if you have connected a tablet or something similar, you want to use the pen Windows. It's annoying just when you draw, and constantly put these Windows functions over it. The whole thing is a so-called "service" in Windows, which you can turn off:

- Open Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services
- Find "Tablet PC Input Service" (He can also somehow similar hot, possibly "Windows Tablet PC Input Service")
- Click with right click the service and choose "Exit" from the context menu
- Click again with the right click the service and select "Properties"
- There You put in the Startup type to "Disabled" (this way, the service is generally deactivated and no longer start automatically when you turn on the computer.)
- Close the program
- Done

If you need the service but someday, you'll turn him over selfsame way again.

Hi Fabrice! With Wintab on or off, it still appears (real-time video attached).
And thank you again, Sven, I made that adjustment (and many others) yesterday and I believe they worked for programs like Photoshop, but TVPaint refuses to let go of that circle!

Thank you for the link, meslin, but believe it or not, I have done all those things (lots of great posts on how to disable them). The force is strong in my Windows 7 circles.

Thanks much, meslin. This worked for me and I bookmarked the source. :D

I have some good but weird news!
After my last video of the circles appearing, I had to go teach class, so I put my computer to sleep and didn't touch anything. I just came back and started work, not noticing the pen right away...but lo and behold...NO CIRCLE!
I have no idea whether this is temporary or permanent, but I'll take it for now!
Thanks to all of you who jumped in to try to help me!
High fives all around to the TVPaint community!
:)
