Major Issues with Windows 10 Anniversary Update

I installed the latests Windows 10 Anniversary update on two of my computers, on both of them it seems like it has made it impossible to start either TVpaint 9.5 or 11. Tvpaint 9.5 briefly shows up, but immediately a message that says "Tvpain has stopped working" shows up. Tvpaint 11 just doesn't show anything and then a similar error shows up.

I've tried all combinations of compatibility modes + run as admin. Nothing seems to help. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

I'm restoring one of the computers to pre-anniversary update, hopefully that will let me get back to work.

I hope there is some way to fix this soon!

I can confirm that rolling back to pre Windows 10 Anniversary update makes it work again.

When I debug the crash I get this message over and over again

Unhandled exception at 0x75AC5727 (SHCore.dll) in TVP Animation 9 (32bits).exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xC8334525.

Hi Kylerk !

Thank you for your feedback. Many of us here use Windows 10 and we did not experience such issues.

It sounds like your trouble is the same as Ceres' : http://forum.tvpaint.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=10126" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(but she wrote in French...)

I am more used to Mac environment and on the week-end, I'm afraid you won't many answers... At the moment, I would simply advise you to reset your TVPaint Animation 11 config (hold ctrl when starting the software to display the startup panel).

Hi!
Yes I think we're having the same issue. So annoying..
Did you restore one of yours to pre-anniversary update? Is it working now?

If it's working, can you please tell me how you actually did that? (restore to previous update)?
Thanks a lot! : )

Restoring did fix the problem.

Press start button, start typing to start searching. Search for recovery options. Than there should be a go back to earlier build option, press get started. Follow the steps outlined and that should get you back to the previous state of your computer.

Just to clarify, it does work in windows 10, just not the newest update to version 1607 / OS build 14393.10

If anyone can confirm that TVpaint can work on that version of windows, I would be very interested to know. Staying with a downgraded version of Windows is only a short term solution because Microsoft is forcing updates after a certain period of time, so this is going to have to be fixed moving forward.

Hi,
Could you tell us which version you own ?
I've made some test and the version 11.0.3 should work on Windows 10 anniversary

And your version 11 ? Can you try with the 11.0.3, just to be sure it works ?

TVpaint 11.0.3 does work. But I do need 9.5 to work as we need to be able to use both licenses at the same time.

Have you been able to reproduce the problem on any of your systems yet?
