"Dot" brush mode
Does anyone use this? If I want a single stamp I just tap once with a stylus or click the mouse. But as a standalone mode for the brush tool it's an annoyance to me.

Re: I miss you, TVPaint! But wow is the iPad Pro great...
Yes, portability is a big bonus. Also, I am on Windows/Linux at the office so my option is Duet Display, which does not have wireless capacity. The performance of Duet is slower and worse than simply using the Cintiq which is already hooked up. :| If I were already a MacBook type person, you can bet...

I miss you, TVPaint! But wow is the iPad Pro great...
Happy new year, TVPaint pals. It's been quite some time since I did any animating in TVPaint because I acquired an iPad Pro about six months ago. Although it's obviously not the full-fledged computer that it could be, the experience of drawing on it with the Apple stylus is VASTLY superior to any ot...

Re: Microsofts Surface Studio
What I would love is a higher-res Cintiq (similar to the 21UX which is what I work with) that can connect to your own computer. The 27QHD is higher resolution than the old 21UX, for sure, but it's nowhere near the 4500x3000 resolution of the new Surface display. I have been doing a lot of work on a...

Re: Microsofts Surface Studio
I agree with Schwarzgrau, it's maybe biased : . The Cintiq line is not nearly so high in resolution The Cintiq 27HD is in WQHD and their next Companion 3 / Mobile Studio Pro will have a 4K screen. What I would love is a higher-res Cintiq (similar to the 21UX which is what I work with) that can conn...

Re: Microsofts Surface Studio
The screen itself is the most attractive aspect of this device, and unfortunately it risks being inevitably tethered to soon-obsolete hardware. I wish I could get that sort of thing as a standalone device. The Cintiq line is not nearly so high in resolution.

Re: Problem installing Sentinel Drivers on Linux Mint
I have had no problem with the existing Sentinel driver on Ubuntu 16.04. Sometimes I have to run the daemon manually before I start up TVPaint, but it works.

Re: Two Color Panel at Once?
+1!! I miss having the Color Variations as a separate panel. I used to use that all the time to explore within the color but be able to pick a new one quickly from the picker.

"Put away" command to put palettes in drawers
When I use the program, I often will keep the side drawers on auto-hide, but take out palettes and leave them on the canvas when I'm working with them. Instead of having to drag them back into the drawer when I'm done, could there be a way to make the palette return to the drawer when the palette is...

Re: iPad Pro version of TVPaint
Here's another option, from a small independent company (DigiCel) that does great work! https://digicel.net/flippad/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I bought FlipBook (the PC version) years ago before discovering TVPaint and can attest to the fact that it is made with 2d ani...

He's going to have his work really cut out for him now that OpenToonz is attracting a following... I agree though that his design work looks very promising.

Re: How to superimpose textured layer on character
When I work with these textures, two things are of importance: - the average lightness of the texture should be approximately 50% gray - if that is the case, then using the "Overlay2" blend mode (the recent addition that mimics Photoshop's implementation of Overlay) is the most effective. ...

Re: Psychedelic Animation Created With TVPaint
Hey Micah! Gorgeous work. I'm really digging the mixed media stuff -- the backgrounds look like they're watercolor? And some of the animation also looked like colored pencil or chalk. Can you talk about your process for making this video?

Re: CTG or paint bucket?
If you have a stylus that supports tilt, you can try the brush Projection or other tilt-based modifiers. This would be similar to an airbrush used very close to the paper instead of a distant spray. You might succeed that way in making a brush that has one hard edge and one soft edge.
